RTU grade points table (A++, A+, A, B+, B…)
RTU, Kota uses a 10-point grading scale. Below A++ the grade points fall in steps of half a point, which is why A is 8.5 and not 8 — a detail that trips up most online calculators. The values marked "verified" were confirmed against real RTU B.Tech grade cards, where the Point Scored column equals credits × grade point.

E is the lowest passing grade; F scores zero points but its credits still count in the semester, which is why one backlog pulls an SGPA down sharply.
How RTU calculates SGPA and CGPA
SGPA (one semester)
Multiply each subject's credits by its grade point, add the results, and divide by the semester's total credits. Worked from a real grade card: a 5th semester with A++, B+, A++, C+, B, D+ and four A++ labs over 23 credits gives 199.5 points and exactly 8.67 SGPA — the figure printed on the card.
CGPA (whole degree so far)
Add the points of every semester and divide by the total credits of those semesters. Six semesters totalling 135.5 credits and 1278.5 points give a CGPA of 9.44. Because RTU works from the actual points, averaging rounded SGPAs instead can be off by about 0.01 — the semester-wise tab avoids that completely.
CGPA to percentage
As per RTU's CBCS guidelines for B.Tech, equivalent percentage = CGPA × 10. A CGPA of 8.5 is 85%. Some older RTU admission forms for PG and PhD use a different conversion, so check the specific form you are filling.
How many credits do you need?
RTU grade cards state that a B.Tech degree requires 166 credits (125 credits for LEEP students). The calculator shows your progress towards that total as you add semesters.

What are the RTU grade points for A++, A+, A and B?
On RTU's 10-point scale: A++ = 10, A+ = 9, A = 8.5, B+ = 8, B = 7.5, C+ = 7, C = 6.5, D+ = 6, D = 5.5, E+ = 5, E = 4 (the pass grade) and F = 0. Note that A is 8.5, not 8 — the grades below A++ move in steps of half a point.
How is SGPA calculated in RTU?
Multiply each subject's credits by its grade point to get its points, add the points of every subject in that semester, then divide by the semester's total credits. On a real RTU grade card, 23.50 credits and 235 total points give an SGPA of exactly 10.00.
How is CGPA calculated in RTU?
Add the points of every semester so far and divide by the total credits of those semesters. RTU works from the actual points rather than the rounded SGPA printed on the card, which is why this calculator adds up your subjects instead of averaging rounded SGPAs.
How do I convert RTU CGPA into percentage?
As per RTU's CBCS guidelines for B.Tech, equivalent percentage = CGPA × 10. So a CGPA of 8.5 equals 85%.
My grade card shows "Point Scored" — what is it?
It is credits × grade point for that subject. A 2-credit subject graded A++ shows 20, a 3-credit subject graded B shows 22.5. If you are unsure of a letter, switch to "Points scored" and type the number printed on your card.
How many credits are needed for the RTU B.Tech degree?
RTU grade cards state that 166 credits must be earned for the B.Tech degree, and 125 credits for LEEP students. The calculator shows your progress towards that total.
What is a good CGPA for placements?
Most campus recruiters set a cut-off of 6.0 to 7.0 CGPA (60–70%) with no active backlogs. A CGPA above 8 keeps almost every company open to you.
